Make Calcutta Relevant Again (MCRA) recently unveiled their innovative Durga Puja celebration, ‘Onyo Pujo’, at Offbeat CCU. This unique initiative celebrates the divine feminine, tradition, sustainability, and innovation. In collaboration with Y-East, Hulladek, and other partners, Onyo Pujo focuses on the circularity of life and the regeneration of waste.
The centerpiece of the event is a sustainable pandal designed by talented students from École Intuit Lab. The pandal is made from recycled materials, including a textile waste idol created by students from Techno India Group Public School last year.

The recent press conference held on 25th September at Offbeat CCU featured leaders from the organizing partners, including Pauline Laravoire, Founder of Y-East, Prof. Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, CO-Chairperson of Techno India Group, Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, founder of Make Calcutta Relevant Again, Priyasha Singhania from Hulladek, Shamaun Ahmed, renowned metal sculptor, Trina Saha, eminent actress, and Satrajit Sen, eminent film director and National Award-winning film producer.
The speakers discussed the importance of sustainability, the inspiration behind the pandal design, and the cultural significance of Durga Puja. The support from partners like Java Yezdi Motorcycles, ICICI Bank, Enkon, Diamond Beverages Pvt Ltd, Magpet, Twirl Store, Halder Group, Bengal Beverages Pvt Ltd, Asha Audio, Point 3, Homebound, and The Soul Local.



Java Yezdi Motorcycles has generously provided bike parts from across the country to Shamaun Ahmed. Shamaun is using these recycled materials to create a stunning art installation in the form of a chandelier and other unique pieces for the Onyo Pujo pandal.





Onyo Pujo is a celebration of creativity, community, and environmental responsibility.
